DC5 – Chiara Antenucci

My educational background and professional interests are rooted in organic chemistry, synthesis and catalysis. During my undergraduate studies, I focused on the synthesis and investigation of amphiphilic derivatives of styrilpyrene, exploring their ability to undergo photoisomerization and photodimerization through [2+2] cycloaddition. For my Master’s degree, I worked on the synthetic optimization of an active pharmaceutical antitumoral employing atroposelective organocatalysis.

I am eager to continue growing and evolving within the field of research. The PIA program presents an exciting opportunity to broaden my network and deepen my knowledge across both academic and industrial sites, enabling me to explore and strengthen the essential collaboration between these two spheres, particularly in the context of pharmaceutical innovation.

Outside the lab, I am a passionate enthusiast of cinema and live music, always seeking new genres and artists to accompany life’s many emotions. To cultivate balance and mindfulness, I practice yoga, and I enjoy swimming, which offers a refreshing escape and a chance to reconnect with nature. These personal passions enrich my life, providing me with a well-rounded perspective that complements my dedication to scientific research.

Title: Photocatalytic alkylation of heteroarenes in batch and continuous flow: Synthesis of building blocks and pharmaceutical components

Summary: The main objective of this individual research project is the development of photocatalytic methodologies in both batch and flow conditions for the preparation of alkylated heterocycles as relevant synthetic building blocks and pharmaceutical components (Universität Münster, Germany). In the second phase, the methodologies studied by the DC will be implemented in batch and continuous flow for targeted heterocyclic synthetic building blocks and APIs (Seqens, France).
