External Consultant Board

Our project is supported by the External Consultant Board, which is composed of 4 international experts in the research field of PIA, with experience in student training and in European or international network projects.

Dr. Daniele Leonori

Scientific Advisor

RWTH Aachen, Germany

Dr. Leonori is expert in catalysis and more concretely, in the discovery, design and development of novel catalytic methods mediated by nitrogen and boryl radicals. Despite his youth, his research has contributed significantly to the field of photocatalysis. He has received many awards, for example, the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Young Investigator Award in 2021.

Prof. Belén Martín-Matute

Scientific Advisor

Stockholm University, Sweden

Her research interests are the development of novel catalytic methodologies under sustainable conditions and the unravelling of reaction mechanisms. She has also participated in the European Join Doctorate Network CatMEC. Prof. Martín-Matute is currently the Associate Editor of Organic Letters.
David J. Procter

Scientific Advisor

University of Manchester, UK

His group has introduced new strategies for the efficient construction of organic molecules with important properties. For example, he has completed the total synthesis of challenging natural architectures using new cyclizations developed in his team (incl. the antibacterial pleuromutilin), prepared novel organic materials using his new methods, developed copper-catalyzed multicomponent couplings, and invented metal-free coupling processes that lessen our reliance on expensive and supply-risk late transition metals. Much of his work has been carried out in collaboration with industry (over 30 grants from industry) and with academic teams in theoretical, physical organic, and materials chemistry and in physics and biology.

Prof. Eli Zysman-Colman

Scientific Advisor

University of St. Andrews, UK

His group develops new organic molecules and materials with improved photophysical properties as well as their application in different devices from an interdisciplinary approach. Furthermore, he has experience in European training programmes, having participated in two. Since 2022, he is the CEO and co-founder of the spin-out company SolOLED.
