The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid hosted the first scientific training event organized by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network (PIA_DN), focused on photocatalysis and photochemical processes. This specialized course, titled “Photochemistry and Photophysics”, aimed to provide a solid foundation for understanding visible light-driven processes, which are key to sustainable industrial applications.

Over two days, the six Doctoral Candidates of the PIA Network attended lectures delivered by four leading experts:
- Prof. Virginia Martínez (University of the Basque Country): Basic Principles of Photophysical Processes
- Prof. Diego Sampedro (University of La Rioja): Photochemical Processes: Reactivity and Deactivation
- Dr. Leyre Marzo (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid): Visible Light Photocatalysis in Organic Synthesis
- Dr. Marta Liras (IMDEA-Energy): Fundamentals of Heterogeneous Photocatalysis
The course was a great success. In addition to learning new concepts, the doctoral candidates had the opportunity to interact with the speakers and connect with each other, fostering new opportunities for collaboration and networking within the scientific community.
Coordinator: Dr. José A. Fernández Salas.
